A young pianist came to New York City to pursue her dream.

With this small but modern styled apartment with dazzling Manhattan waterfront view, she can turn her home into a fancy concerto salon place anytime she wants.

At this home, she is the absolute star.

Designer’s words:

“This is an artist’s home, so it needs some subtlety and elegance on top of the comfort and privacy, which people usually want for homes.

Since the living room (perhaps the dining room as well) would often serve the functionality as a show room, space creating is crucial. The upward stretching plants (trees) from the ground and the strongly decorative “plant cage” from the celling help to create some sense of depth and connection for the whole space. The out-growing plant from the cage also reflects the classic idea of the artist’s mind.

I know that most of the modern New York apartments would not have real fireplaces in built, but even a light-controlled fake fireplace would bring a warm, welcoming feeling to any visitor. (well, of course especially for the cat!) ”

Designer’s words:

“City life can be very stressful sometimes, especially for a performing artist. She is lucky to have a balcony from high tower with the perfect view of Hudson river, so I put a lounge chair and an egg swing chair so she and guests can have the Manhattan sunset in their arms.

The bedroom’s idea here is go as much cozy and intimate as possible. Like she said she wants a bedroom that with ‘ fuzzy floors and many many pillows that you feel like fall in immediately when you get rid of high heel pumps.’

Well, I do hope this small bedroom is able to guard her big music dreams.”
